Import from your LMS
Paste the calendar feed link from Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard, Moodle or Sakai once and we'll pull your assignments and due dates in, then keep checking.
Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle and a few others publish a calendar feed of your coursework. Paste that link into Due Gooder once and we pull the assignments in and keep checking for new ones. It's a read-only link, not your school login, and nothing travels back the other way.
Link your LMS
This one's on the paid plans
Link LMS is marked Pro in the Add Classes dialog. If clicking it sends you to the pricing page, or Connect & Sync reports that LMS integration is only available for premium users, the access check didn't pass.
Open your dashboard and click Add Class. The Add Classes dialog asks you to "Choose how you want to import your assignments and class information."
Click Link LMS, described as "Import from Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, etc."
On Select Your LMS, pick Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai or Other ICS.
Play the clip under How to find your ICS URL if your LMS has one, or use the written steps below, and copy the feed link out of your LMS.
Click Connect & Sync. We check the feed, tell you how many assignments we found, and save the connection for background imports.
Ignore the example in the box
Every form shows the same Canvas-style example, "https://your-school.instructure.com/feeds/calendars/...", whichever LMS you picked. Paste your own feed link over it.
Find your feed link
These steps follow the walkthrough clips Due Gooder shows you once you pick your LMS.
Open Calendar, click Calendar Feed, then copy the URL out of the Calendar Feed dialog.
Open a course, open the Calendar widget, go to Settings, turn on Enable Calendar Feeds and click Save. Then click Subscribe and copy the URL for All Calendars and Tasks.
Open Calendar, then Calendar Settings. In the three-dot menu choose Share calendar, then click Copy in Share Calendar Link.
Open Calendar and choose Import or export calendars, then Export calendar. Pick Events related to courses and Recent and next 60 days, click Get calendar URL, then Copy URL.
Open Calendar, choose Publish (private), then copy the https .ics link under Subscribe to this Calendar.
There's no walkthrough clip for this one. In the calendar you want, look for its export or subscribe option and copy the iCal or ICS link it gives you.
What lands in Due Gooder
Each course in the feed becomes a class of its own, with a color and an emoji you can change; if you already have a class by the same name, the work joins it. Everything we import comes from the calendar feed, so the feed sets the limits:
- Only what your professor has posted. If a class has no assignments in your LMS calendar yet, there's nothing for us to import, and that class won't show up until there is. At the start of a semester that's the usual reason a class seems to be missing. Once the assignments go up they arrive on the next check, with nothing for you to do.
- Your Canvas To Do list doesn't come through. Items you add to To Do in Canvas aren't part of its calendar feed, so we never see them. Add those in Due Gooder yourself.
- Anything more than 7 days past due is skipped. If the whole feed is older than that, we say so rather than importing it.
- Work with a date but no time is due at 11:59 PM. That's in the time zone we have for you when you link, so if the times look off, fix your time zone in Settings, then run a manual sync.
On every check after that, we add assignments that are new to us and update the name and description on ones we already imported. We change a due date when the feed gives us a new, valid one, but we never clear a date you already have because the feed stopped listing it. If something disappears from the feed we leave your copy alone, so delete it yourself if it's gone for good.
Adding a syllabus to an imported class
A class we made from your LMS arrives with no course details, so its page asks "Want class information attached to this class?". Pull from syllabus reads the file for the parts the feed doesn't carry — meeting times, the instructor's email, office hours, the policies — and fills in only what's blank. It doesn't add assignments: work that's on the syllabus but not in your LMS calendar stays out until your professor posts it. And uploading that syllabus from Add Class makes a second, separate class rather than joining the two. More under upload a syllabus.
When we check for new work
We re-check roughly every 12 hours, and again when you open the app if it's been at least half an hour since the last one. To pull right now, click the refresh icon on the Linked LMS card, labeled Force sync.
Check on it, or unlink it
The Linked LMS card sits above your classes on the dashboard and on Classes. It names the LMS you linked and shows either "Syncing…", when it last synced, or "Sync failed — re-link with a new calendar feed URL". That status means the latest sync failed: try Force sync first, and if it keeps failing, generate a fresh URL in your LMS and link it again.
Settings → Profile → LMS Integration is a separate panel. It shows the LMS name with "Syncing..." or "Last synced:", the feed link you pasted under LMS Calendar URL, and buttons to sync now and Unlink LMS.
You can have one LMS feed connected at a time. To change the link, unlink the current one first.
We ask "Do you also want to delete all classes that were imported from this LMS?"
Choose Keep Classes to stop future imports and keep everything you've already got, or Delete Classes to clear them out.
Delete Classes takes whole classes
It removes every class holding an assignment that came from this LMS — even one you made yourself that picked up a single imported assignment, and even work from an earlier feed for the same LMS. Pick Keep Classes unless you're sure.
If the link won't connect
We tell you what went wrong before anything is saved. The common ones:
- "This link opens a webpage or sign-in screen, not a calendar feed. In your LMS calendar, find the Export or Subscribe option and copy the iCal/ICS feed URL." You copied the address of the page instead of the feed.
- "Your LMS rejected this feed link — it may have expired. Generate a fresh calendar feed URL in your LMS and paste the new one."
- "No assignments found in your calendar feed. Make sure your LMS calendar has events." The link works, but we didn't find anything in it we could import as an assignment.
- "We couldn't reach your LMS right now. Please try again in a few minutes."
