Assignments & due dates
Add an assignment, move its due date, check it off, and read where each one shows up.
Every assignment belongs to a class, and a due date is what puts it on your dashboard, in Due Soon and on your calendar.
Add an assignment
Open Classes, pick the class, and stay on Assignments.
Click Add Assignment. The dialog opens with "Create a new assignment for this class."
Type an Assignment Name. That's the only thing we need.
Set a Due Date and Due Time if you have one. The time starts at the end of the day, 11:59 PM, and only counts once a date is set.
Add a Description (Optional) if you want, then click Add Assignment again to save it.
Open Calendar and click New event.
In Create Event, leave Assignment selected rather than Timeblock.
Type a Title, then click Select class under Class * and pick one from the CLASSES group. The generic names under CALENDARS aren't classes, and an assignment can't be saved without a real one.
Set the Date and Due Time, then click Save.
This dialog shows a Location field once Assignment is selected, but we don't keep it on the assignment, so anything you type there won't be there later.
A due date is optional
An unfinished assignment with no date sits on its class page under Not Completed and reads "Due: No date set". While it has no date, it won't appear in your dashboard's week, in Due Soon or on your calendar.
Edit or reschedule
There's no separate reschedule button. The due date and time live inside the edit form, alongside the name.
On your dashboard, click Assignment actions — the three dots at the end of the row — and choose Edit. On a class page, the button carries the assignment's name, like Edit "Weekly Quiz 10".
Edit Assignment opens with "Update the assignment details below." Change the Assignment Name, Due Date, Due Time or Description (Optional).
Click Save Changes.
Clearing the Due Date saves the assignment with no date at all. Completed assignments don't offer Edit on a class page; mark one incomplete first, change it, then check it again. You can also drag a dated assignment to another day on your calendar, which moves the deadline and leaves everything else alone.
Check the time before saving from your calendar
Opening an assignment from your calendar edits the deadline only, so name and description changes there don't stick. The Due Time can also round down when the dialog opens — an 11:59 PM deadline shows as 11:45 PM — so set the time you want before you click Save, or use Edit Assignment instead.
Typed dates and the year rule
Due Date is a date picker, but you can type into it, and a slipped year is the easiest typo to make. We only take a year from last year through two years out — in 2026, that's 2025 through 2028. Outside that window we won't save the date, and we tell you which years we do take. A half-finished date gets "Enter a complete date with a four-digit year."
Older work still edits fine. As long as you don't touch the date or the time, we keep the original deadline exactly as it was, even if it now falls outside that window.
Mark something complete
Click the checkbox next to an assignment — Mark complete on your dashboard, or the same checkbox carrying the assignment's name on a class page, like Mark "Weekly Quiz 10" complete. Your dashboard sends a little confetti when you check something off.
A completed assignment stays in To-do this week while its date is still in this week, with its name struck through. On a class page it moves between Not Completed and Completed. If the class syncs to Google Calendar, we try to mark the event there too.
Delete an assignment
On your dashboard, open Assignment actions and choose Delete. The prompt names the assignment and ends "This action cannot be undone." On a class page, the button carries the assignment's name and the prompt reads "Are you sure you want to delete this assignment?" Either way it's gone for good, so if you only want it out of your way, mark it complete instead.
Where your assignments show up
Your dashboard
The Schedule tab opens on To-do this week: one Monday-to-Sunday list of everything with a date in this week, finished or not, earliest deadline first. Each row has the assignment, its class, a date pill reading "Thu 9/11", the checkbox and Assignment actions. Undated assignments aren't here.
The three counts above the list are due today, this week and overdue. Click one and it opens the full list behind it, headed Due today, This week or Overdue, each with its count in brackets, like Overdue (3). The first two include work you've already finished. The overdue one never does.
Due Soon
Due Soon is the short version: unfinished, dated assignments, closest deadline first, five of them to start. Move the slider below the assignment count to show more or fewer, use Filter by Class to narrow it down, and turn on Show Overdue to include work whose deadline has already gone by. Cards show the assignment, its class and its due date, with no time. Completed and undated assignments never appear.
What counts as overdue
The two screens draw the line in different places.
- Due Soon drops an assignment the moment its exact deadline passes, so something due at 2 PM today is gone from the list at 2:01 PM. Show Overdue brings it back, along with everything else you've missed, oldest first.
- Your dashboard waits for the whole day to go by. The red Overdue label appears the next calendar day, so that same 2 PM assignment stays plain until tomorrow.
Which timezone your dates use
Your dashboard follows the timezone on your account once you've set one under Settings → Notifications → Timezone → Account timezone. Class pages and your calendar always follow whatever timezone your device is in, and a date and time you type into an assignment is read that way too. So if your dashboard shows the wrong day, check Account timezone; if a class page or your calendar does, check the timezone your device is set to.
