Classes
What a class card shows, and how to rename, recolor, edit, archive or delete a class — on the web and in the app.
A class holds its assignments, and it can also carry course details, meeting times, a syllabus and the materials you keep for it.
Your class list
Your classes live at app.duegooder.com/app/classes, on the page headed "Your Classes 🗃️". In the sidebar, Classes opens into your classes by name if you'd rather go straight to one.
Each card shows:
- The emoji and the name, with the class color on the card's border and progress bar. Names over 24 characters get cut short with a "…"; on a computer, hover to read one in full.
- How many assignments it has, like "35 Assignments · 18 Completed", with a bar and a figure such as "51% Complete".
- "Next due:" and the soonest dated assignment due now or later, or "No more assignments coming up" when nothing dated is ahead.
Next due goes by the assignment's date and time and doesn't check whether you've ticked it off, so a finished one can still sit there. One with no date never shows up, and one whose time has passed drops off.
On a computer, hover a card and a three-dot Class actions button appears in its corner — it's hidden until you hover. Click it for Change color, Edit name & emoji, Archive and Delete.
Rename a class or change its emoji
In Edit Class Name & Emoji, type over Class Name, or click the current emoji under Emoji.
Choose Emoji has a Search emojis... box and 17 categories from Education to Flags. Pick a category, then click an emoji.
Click Save — it stays greyed out while the name is empty. If the card keeps the old emoji, refresh the page.
Change one class's color
Click Class actions → Change color. Change Color lays out your current palette; click a color and it applies right away. For a shade that isn't there, pick one under Custom Color and click Add Custom Color.
Recolor every class at once
On your class list click Apply Color Preset, or on your dashboard click Color Preset.
Scroll the 28 palettes in Choose Color Preset. Each holds six colors and is tagged "🌓 Both modes", "☀️ Light mode" or "🌙 Dark mode".
Click one. We recolor your active classes in order, starting the six colors over if you have more than six, then confirm with the preset's name. If any can't be recolored, the message counts how many were left behind, and clicking the preset again picks up the stragglers. Classes you add later take the palette too.
Inside a class
Click a card to open the class. The course card can show the emoji, course name and code, the instructor's name and email, the meeting time, and day boxes with the meeting days filled in — whichever of those the class has.
- Class Policies holds the whole course profile, not only the rules: Instructor, Office Hours, Meeting Times, Course Description, Attendance, Late Work and Required Materials. Details we don't have mostly read "Not set"; a missing instructor email or course code is left out altogether, and a class with no room reads "Location not set".
- Syllabus, or View Syllabus PDF inside Class Policies, opens the file we saved. Some browsers open it in a new tab, some download it.
- A class with no details yet asks "Want class information attached to this class?", with Add manually and Pull from syllabus.
Under the card are three tabs. Assignments splits the work into Not Completed and Completed and has Add Assignment. Locker keeps the class's files in folders, and Study holds its flashcard sets and practice tests. Locker and Study come with AI Pro, and with paid plans from before Pro and AI Pro split. If your plan doesn't include them, clicking either drops you back on Assignments and shows "Get AI Pro to unlock this feature".
Edit course details and meeting times
Open the class and click Edit on the course card, or Class Policies → Edit Course Info.
Edit Course Information is grouped into Basic Information, Schedule & Location, Instructor Information, Course Policies and Required Materials — one material per line.
Under Schedule & Location, click the days the class meets and set the start and end time. Add Time Slot adds another meeting slot, running 09:00 to 10:00 with no day chosen.
Click Save Changes. There's no timezone to choose — we use the one your device is set to, so check the times if you edit while travelling.
If the class syncs to Google Calendar, changing when it meets doesn't move the weekly event. Use Rebuild this calendar from scratch on the Calendar Sync page to get a fresh one; see Google Calendar.
Archive a class
Archiving is for a class you're finished with but want to keep.
Your browser asks to confirm: "Archive "Organic Chemistry"? It will be hidden from your active classes and unsynced from Google Calendar. You can unarchive it anytime." Accept it and we say "Class archived".
To bring it back, click Show Archived, open the archived card's Class actions and click Unarchive — that one has no confirmation. Show Archived only appears while you still have at least one active class, so hold one back if you don't want to lose sight of the rest.
The class and its assignments stay as they were, and an archived class doesn't count against the free plan. If the class was synced to Google Calendar, its "- DG" calendar is removed from Google along with everything in it; archiving goes through even if that clean-up fails. After you unarchive, sync the class again from Sync to Calendar if you want it back in Google.
Delete a class
Deleting is for a class you don't want at all. If you might need it again, archive it instead — that's what to do with last semester's classes.
On the web
Open Classes and hover the class's card. The three-dot Class actions button appears in its corner.
Your browser asks "Are you sure you want to delete "Organic Chemistry"? This action cannot be undone." Accept it and the class comes off your list.
In the iPhone or Android app
Tap Delete class, the last item in the menu. A sheet asks "Permanently delete "Organic Chemistry"? This removes all its assignments, chat, and locker files. This cannot be undone." Tap Delete to go ahead, or tap outside the sheet to back out.
The three-dot menu on a card in the app's Classes list only offers Share and Class Info, so delete lives on the class itself, not the list.
What goes with it
Deleting takes every assignment in the class, the syllabus we stored for it, and everything in that class's Locker. Practice tests you built from it stay on your account. Anything already written to Google Calendar stays there too, so remove the class from Google first if you want those events gone.
How many classes you can have
Free accounts, and accounts whose trial has run out, can have two active classes; archived ones don't count. At the limit, Add Class opens "Class limit reached" — "Your free plan covers 2 classes. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited classes." A paid plan or a running trial has no limit.
