Locker

Where your class files live — uploading documents and photos, what indexing gets you, and searching inside everything.

Your Locker holds the files you've given us for a class: syllabi, slides, typed notes, photos of handwritten notes, and lecture recordings. Once we've read one, you can search inside it, build flashcards and practice tests from it, and ask Duey about it.

What's in your Locker

Click Locker in the sidebar. The page is headed Locker, with "All your study materials in one place." underneath, and has four tabs:

  • Materials — every file you've saved, in folders. This is where you land.
  • Duedles — the checklist you keep for a single day, free on every plan.
  • Flashcards — the decks you've generated.
  • Practice Tests — the tests you've generated.

Materials groups your files into folders — Syllabi, Notes, Lecture Slides, Assignments, Homework, Projects, Recordings, AI Notes and Other — each with a count like "12 files". A folder only appears once there's something in it.

Moving between the Locker's four tabs, opening a folder, and searching inside everything under Materials.

Upload a file

In Locker, click Upload. Before you have a class it reads Add a class first and sends you to your dashboard instead.

Upload to Locker asks you to "Pick the class this material belongs to." Choose one under Class and click Continue. With a single class we skip this and go straight to the form.

Leave PDF / DOCX selected and drop your file on "Drag and drop or click to select". The form takes "PDF or DOCX, up to 25MB".

Fill in Name *, then pick a Category: Notes, Lecture Slides, Assignment or Homework. Notes is already chosen.

Click Upload — it stays greyed out until there's both a file and a name. We confirm the upload and start reading the file.

A PDF that's really a scan gets a heads-up first: "This PDF looks scanned — we'll try to read it with OCR, which can take a minute."

Upload photos of your notes

Click Upload, pick the class, then click Photos of notes.

Click "Click to select photos of your notes" and choose your pages. The form takes "JPG, PNG, HEIC. Up to 30 pages." and counts them as Photos (0/30).

Pages keep the order you picked them in. Hover one for Move up, Move down or Remove, and use Add more photos to keep going.

Fill in Name * and pick a Category, then click the upload button, which counts your pages back at you — Upload 6 pages. We stitch them into one PDF and read the writing off them: "Photos uploaded — OCR in progress".

How much we can read off a scan

Reading text off images is capped at 100 pages in any 30 days. If a batch of photos would take you past that, we turn it down with "Monthly OCR limit reached. You have used 90/100 pages in the last 30 days." — the number is what you've used so far. It says monthly, but it's a rolling window: pages free themselves up 30 days after you use them. A scanned PDF over 50 pages doesn't go through automatic reading at all, and its card says "This looks like a scanned document, but it's too long to read automatically (over 50 pages). AI study tools may still work with it."

What "Indexed" means

A new file sits at "Processing..." while we read it. Once we're done its card shows "Indexed", and may show "Topics: …" — the subjects we found in it. If we couldn't read it, the card says "Couldn't read file"; where we have a reason, hovering the label shows it.

An indexed file is one search can quote a passage out of, one you can pick as source material for a flashcard set or a practice test, and one Duey can answer from. A file we couldn't read stays put — you can still open, download and delete it — but it won't show up in the flashcard or practice-test pickers.

Search everything at once

Type into "Search by name or what's inside your materials..." at the top of Materials. Search starts at three characters; anything shorter leaves your folders on screen, and nothing on the page tells you so.

We look at file names, the topics we pulled out, and the words inside your files and syllabi, so "late work policy" finds the paragraph rather than a filename. Each result carries the file and the passage that matched, with your words highlighted, plus the class when there is one. Hover a result and click Open ↗ for the file itself. When nothing lands, the page reads "No materials match “late work policy”" and "Try a different phrase or topic."

Open, download or delete a file

Hover a file for View, Download and Delete. View opens the file in a new tab and Download saves it. A recording carries Play instead and opens its lecture page. A syllabus uses View Document, Download Document and Delete Document, and View Document shows the syllabus right there on the page instead of a new tab.

Delete asks your browser to confirm — "Delete this material from your Locker?", or for a syllabus a prompt naming the file and warning "This action cannot be undone." Accept and we say "Material deleted", or "Document deleted successfully" for a syllabus. Anything you built from that file, like a deck or a test, stays where it is.

A class's own Locker

Open Classes, click a class, then its Locker tab. You get up to 50 of that class's newest materials in folders. Syllabi aren't included. Upload Material opens the same form, already pointed at that class.

Search, or ⌘ K, opens a box over the page reading "Search inside your materials...". Under three characters it filters that class's indexed files by name, topic and category; at three it searches inside them and the footer swaps "Type to search inside documents" for "AI-powered content search". The files it found are listed under "Sources — 3 files".

Tick one file for View and Download. With one or more ticked, Flashcards or Practice Test opens its own picker, where you choose up to five files again. Clear unticks everything and esc closes.

Which plan you need

Materials, Flashcards and Practice Tests are the AI Pro tabs. Duedles is on every plan. If your plan doesn't include one of the paid tabs, opening it shows "Get AI Pro to unlock this feature" with Get AI Pro and Back to dashboard, and the preview above them links to AI Pro pricing; closing it puts you on Duedles. Some older paid plans carry all of this already, so check what you see rather than the plan's name. A class's Locker and Study tabs work the same way and drop you back on Assignments.
